Interstate Assembly Systems (IAS) is looking for an independent, driven individual to join our team in West Sacramento, CA as a Materials Manager. IAS brings decades of experience engineering and manufacturing custom service vehicles, Fuel and Lubrication Vehicles and Mechanics Trucks.

Pay Range: $48-$55K annually DOE

This position will manage manufactured product after point of sale and facilitate communication between other departments to ensure product is processed through the manufactured steps correctly.

This position will also be responsible for maintaining the purchasing process by reviewing and analyzing inventory levels, prepare and placing purchase orders, follow up on orders to ensure adherence to confirmed delivery dates. This position will also be responsible for managing vendors within their respected commodity to include resolution management.

The successful team member will leverage their exceptional communication, time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage the dynamic responsibilities of the position. The ideal candidate must be able to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining strict deadlines. The ability to develop and maintain effective internal relationships with all departments will be a key aspect of success.

Primary (Essential) Duties:



  • Inventory management

    • Oversees team of inventory or warehouse employees.
    • Manages inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments and stock levels.
    • Evaluates deliveries, shipments and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.
    • Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
    • Manages schedules of employees, deliveries and shipments to optimize operations.
    • Communicates with inventory employees to meet business goals and address personnel issues.
    • Develops business relationships with suppliers and clients.
    • Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics.
    • Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs.
    • Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management.
    • Manages the recruitment and training of new inventory employees.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


  • Purchasing

    • Reviews and analyzes inventory levels to replenish stock
    • Place orders and manage order confirmations
    • Vendor selection and management using established criteria and methods
    • Liaising with suppliers, negotiating pricing, and resolving issues related to supply, delivery, and quality.
    • Freight and expediting management to ensure on-time delivery
    • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors
    • Issue and process requests for quotes and negotiate prices
    • Resolve billing issues and any conflicts between the company and the vendors




Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Effective Communication Skills required.
  • Exceptional Time Management and Multi-Tasking Skills required.
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills required.
  • Experience in Industrial OEM field preferred.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Resource Planning or Mechanical Background preferred.
  • Ability to adapt and excel as obstacles arise in production schedules.


Experience/Education Requirements:



  • High school Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Degree or education in JD Edwards Enterprise One, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, or Business Management (commensurate industry experience acceptable) is a plus


Working Conditions, Travel/Schedule expectations and Physical Demands:



  • Traditional M-F work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
