Sr. Workflow Specialist (Business Process Consultant) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Workflow Specialist (Business Process Consultant) to support enterprise-level health IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in business process design and documentation, workflow configuration, and systems implementation in secure environments. This position will play a key role in translating functional needs into scalable and actionable technical designs-particularly within OpenText environments. Responsibilities
- Analyze, document, and model current and future-state business processes and workflows to support enterprise health information systems.
- Collaborate with business users, developers, and system integrators to gather requirements and translate them into user stories and epics using Agile development tools (e.g., Jira).
- Design and document business processes in sufficient detail to guide workflow configuration-especially in OpenText Content Suite environments.
- Lead and participate in requirements-gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, and functional walkthroughs.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, technical requirements, workflow diagrams, and traceability matrices.
- Support the implementation of secure, standards-based health information systems within regulated environments (e.g., DoD, VA, or civilian healthcare).
- Act as a liaison between functional teams and developers to ensure the successful deployment of process improvements and automation solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise and mentorship on business process best practices and tools.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR 10 years of equivalent relevant work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in developing and documenting business workflows and requirements for enterprise systems.
Required Skills
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Hands-on experience using Agile development tools (e.g., Jira) to write and manage user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
- Proven experience documenting workflows in sufficient detail to enable technical configuration and system integration.
- Experience implementing health information systems in secure operating environments, particularly in government or DoD contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to translate functional/business requirements into detailed technical requirements and system design documentation.
Desired Skills
- OpenText Content System certification (AppWorks, Content Suite, or Extended ECM).
- Experience configuring or supporting workflows in OpenText or similar enterprise content management (ECM) platforms.
- Familiarity with federal health IT standards, interoperability frameworks (e.g., HL7, FHIR), or DoD/VA integration initiatives.
- Experience with business process modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Bizagi).
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and NIST RMF frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
