Enterprise Architect Job Summary B&A is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design, integration, and modernization of complex, large-scale systems within a defense health environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical and architectural expertise, proven leadership in systems integration, and significant experience with Department of Defense (DoD) systems such as AHLTA and HAIMS. This role involves overseeing the technical architecture of mission-critical solutions, guiding technology selection, and ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and federal standards. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, secure, and high-performing enterprise systems.
- Define enterprise-level architecture frameworks, standards, and best practices to support system interoperability, scalability, and security.
- Architect and integrate multiple software components and interface standards across diverse platforms and domains.
- Support technical strategy, roadmap development, and architectural governance in coordination with business and IT stakeholders.
- Conduct market analysis and analysis of alternatives (AoA) to guide architectural decisions and solution selection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including program management, engineering, and operations-to align technology solutions with mission needs.
- Provide expert guidance on data acquisition, system automation, and business process optimization using modern architectural tools and techniques.
- Support the implementation of enterprise content management systems, including OpenText Content Suite, AppWorks, and Archive Center (preferred).
- Ensure all architecture activities comply with DoD regulations, DHA/SDD policies, and cybersecurity requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 20+ years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale systems with secure, high-availability architectures and multiple software integrations.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of computer science principles and automation techniques for engineering, scientific, or business data solutions.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and integrating complex DoD systems with multiple software components.
- Familiarity with Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Solutions Delivery Division (SDD) systems, such as AHLTA and HAIMS.
- Experience leading market research and AoA studies to support strategic technology decisions.
Desired Skills
- Experience implementing large-scale OpenText ECM platforms including Content Suite, AppWorks, and Archive Center.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, DoDAF, or Zachman.
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid cloud architectures (e.g., Azure Government, AWS GovCloud).
- Experience in developing architecture documentation using tools like Sparx EA, ArchiMate, or Visio.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and federal compliance standards (e.g., NIST 800-53).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, mission-focused environment.
- Skilled in mentoring teams and fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
