How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Manager of Fleet and Microbulk is responsible for the full life cycle and inventory of trucks, trailers and forklifts from specification and sourcing to purchase or lease and sale. The Manager participates in and monitors all fleet budgeting, expenses, maintenance programs and record retention for DOT and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) regulatory compliance. The manager is responsible for scheduling and monitoring Microbulk deliveries throughout the assigned territory. The Manager is responsible for preparing and/or monitoring regional scorecards measuring various metrics of vehicle utilization using SAP, Excel and GPS tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages fleet for region including: trucks, trailers, tube trailers, micro-bulk, crane trucks, and forklifts. Responsible for accurate reporting of leased, owned, and rental vehicles in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures. Works with and monitors vendors to ensure that the fleet is maintained in accordance with the established Standards of Condition and that all established policies and practices are properly followed. Coordinates with Branch and Plant Managers to ensure each vehicle is outfitted with the proper safety equipment.
- Develops vehicle specification and conversion strategies. Liaisons with OE companies for warranty coverage and manages standards for vehicles, vehicle repairs, data collection, data reports, computer systems, and vehicle specifications.
- Monitors and improves fleet/equipment utilization, expense reduction and fuel efficiency.
- Contributes to equipment specification at time of lease start-up and renewal. Builds a strong working relationship with equipment vendors and provides vendor management oversight.
- Provides tube trailer coordination to jobs sites, retest, fill log updates in CIS, Skybitz monitoring.
- Prepares or assists with vehicle purchase spreadsheet, calculates capital expenditures s for fleet replacements, completes order forms bill of sale, and approves title transfers. Collects pre-sell forms, Asset retirement forms with finance, forklift lease paperwork, monthly meter readings and monthly mileage reports.
- Influences distribution costs and maximizes service response through third party vendors, fleet Performance Management (PM) and 18-month repair history reports.
- Monitors regional maintenance expense monitoring and tracking to include daily WFS approvals, review all repair orders monthly comdata invoice review and publishing for approvals.
- Drives continuous improvement in daily distribution operations. Champions distribution efficiency initiatives for the region including TRIPS and Logistic leveling.
- Provides professional development to for the successful continued operation of the fleet. Provides training to managers, supervisors, and drivers for education.
- Works closely with division fleet to improve overall fleet program and ensure strategies are executed within the regions.
- Assist as need in the administration of regions SAP fleet management, registrations, EZ Pass, SmithSafe stickers, Comdata fuel cards, ITFA stickers, fleet insurance cards, new vehicle packages, Onboard Computing (OBC) User support and Lytx cameras
- Interface with customers to schedule microbulk and tube trailer deliveries.
- Work to implement MB scheduling process through region (ASE) that can be introduced through other regions
- Responsible for the daily logistics of driver's routes, to ensure cost-efficient deliveries for MB in assigned territory
- Control distribution costs and maximizes service response through balancing of daily routes and overall system optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in daily distribution of microbulk and tube trailers deliveries.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly delivery schedules for microbulk drivers and management.
- Review returned trips for paperwork accuracy and completeness, and unfulfilled orders.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding emergency deliveries, delivery status and capabilities.
- Manage availability of drivers and equipment, including all maintenance requirements, to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet distribution needs.
- Other projects/initiatives as assigned.

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or related area of study preferred. In lieu of degree requirement, may accept an additional four years of related experience in addition to the required experience minimum.
Required Length & Type of Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated increasing responsibility in fleet management, distribution or related experience.
- Prior experience with spend management and expense controls.
- Prior experience with industry CMV Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Practices.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of distribution, supply chain and/or logistics best practices/techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the following areas: compliance with applicable federal/state regulations, gases and related hard goods, DOT regulations, truck and trailer loading limits, cylinder markings, test dates, pressure ratings, ICC markings, placarding, hazardous material classifications, DOT driver qualifications and record keeping, vehicle purchasing and maintenance requirements, accident reporting, and safety and compliance.
- Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations; demonstrated ability to balance customer service and cost of service issues; demonstrates tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers and with handling proprietary information.
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills. Ability to lead associates who do not directly report to the position. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other professionals/managers.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and to create cross-functional alignment.
- Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively present and discuss information and respond to questions.
- Must be proficient with Google suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- CDL holder, hazmat endorsement and specific MB experience a plus
