Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Specialist (Health and Wellness) for the SA - Finance and Administration Central Business Office. Reporting to the Business Manager II of Health and Wellness, the Business Specialist independently
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides account administration, reconciliation and reporting for assigned departmental accounts, sponsored and non-sponsored program accounts in the departments of Recreation and Student Health.
  • Analyzes data, tracks expenditures, performs reconciliations, assists with budgeting, forecasting, the annual close process and prepares reports as needed for related assigned accounts and general financial data for supervisor and management.
  • Prepares related POs, GL to Project, JEs and other financial tasks as related to assigned accounts.
  • Makes recommendations on improving the financial and business processes in an effort to enhance operations and create efficiencies whenever possible.
  • Initiates the procurement process for the department(s) and assists in researching and obtaining quotes, prepares purchase orders, and manages blankets.
  • Reviews all expenditures for funding availability and appropriate programmatic support of departments' strategic mission and objectives.
  • Provides account administration, reconciliation and reporting for assigned departmental accounts.
  • Analyzes data, tracks expenditures and prepares reports as needed for related assigned accounts.
  • Assists the Business Manager in developing and submitting the annual budgets.
  • Handles forecast preparation and annual close process for the areas that are assigned.
  • Resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the departments and with a comprehensive understanding of business processes, applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance and two (2) or more years of Accounting experience, purchasing goods, preparing journal entries, budgeting and forecasting in a University environment or similar experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good customer service skills, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires a detail-oriented, systematic, and exceptionally well-organized individual who must be able to manage multiple competing priorities that may change frequently, be flexible and able to respond to emergencies posed by colleagues and customers in a calm and congenial manner.
  • Work must be performed accurately in a high-volume area without jeopardizing the integrity of the financial accounting system and be conscientious of meeting deadlines.
  • Good communication and computer literacy skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle platform, RU Marketplace, Tableau, Data Repository, Nelnet and Shift 4 payment gateways. Competency in Excel and computer literacy in Windows programs including Word.
