Job Description

Overview:

Assists the Operations Manager and exercises delegated authority in overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of subordinate supervisors, lead person and workers engaged in the assembly and shipping of Utility Poles as defined by established assembly procedures and build schedule while strictly following all established safety, environmental and shipping requirements,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position

  • Oversees Poles Production and Shipping operations.
  • Coordinates with Quality to ensure all quality objectives, directions, guidelines and communications are being adhered to.
  • Ensures all safety requirements (reporting and compliance) are met in full and on time.
  • Ensure budgeted staffing levels are maintained and documented to include job interest, qualification and current job placement.
  • Schedules, coordinates, oversees, prepares and/or adjusts work schedules to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Ensure all personnel are fully trained to include documentation per established training program.
  • Reviews and coordinates with the Scheduling department to improve efficiency of operations.
  • Documents and tracks daily production data to ensure accuracy, totality and reporting.
  • Ensure operations personnel are properly reporting & entering all process delays, MWR's, production and scrap as well as communicating with management.
  • Determines work procedures, recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Addresses errors, problems, and complaints.
  • Schedules leave of subordinate supervisors; handles personnel issues, employee counseling and employee performance.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Fosters positive work relationships.
  • Possess strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Works within budget constraints.
  • Trains, develops, mentors, and assists subordinates.
  • Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Observes and enforces all Company, safety, housekeeping and plant policies and procedures.
  • Motivates and encourages teamwork with direct reports to ensure productive objectives are met.
  • Addresses errors, problems, and complaints within scope of authority.
  • Assistssubordinate supervisors in handling personnel issues, problems, and complaints
  • Recommends actions to Operations Manager on full range of personnel management matters.
  • Keeps department head informed of important matters as they arise.
  • Performs duties of department head in his/her absence.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings as directed.
  • Conducts departmental tours in support of the Sales team.
  • Supports CI initiatives through the Quality/CI team

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises operations supervisors and indirectly 40 employees across two shifts in accordance with the Company's policies, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Associate degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology required plus 3-5 years' industrial manufacturing experience with 2 or more years supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Computer Skills: Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs and applications for word processing, email, database management and spreadsheets
