What to Expect

The NPI Warehouse team supports the handling of sensitive prototype materials in all aspects, purchased and used by the full NPI department to accelerate how quickly Tesla can bring innovative concepts to our customers around the world. The NPI Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for managing low volume prototype programs with a heightened degree of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of new programs. This person is expected to collaborate with many cross-functional department leaders for scheduling of material arrivals, systematic receiving, transaction accuracy, transporting, storing, retrieving, preparing, and delivering correct materials in accordance with the desired build plans.

The primary objective of the NPI Warehouse team is to implement efficient receiving, warehouse, material handling, and conveyance solutions to support the overall vehicle manufacturing operation as it relates to New Product Introduction. Currently, there are NPI warehouses located in Fremont, 901 Page, Deer Creek, and Lathrop; however, this role is specific to Fremont, 901 Page and Deer Creek. As our team's scope is unique, so will the responsibilities of managing a small team across multiple locations. This Supervisor will work towards optimizing space, material dispositions, transitioning materials to sustaining team such as PC, improving productivity, and creating a healthy and collaborative work culture for the overall team.

The team of NPI Warehouse Technicians are proficient in multiple job functions with a heightened responsibility of accurately identifying unique trial parts that arrive through irregular processes. Must be self-driven, system literate, and comfortable with investigating non-compliance in a complex and dynamic work environment.

Shift: 6pm-6am; Thursday-Saturday and every other Wednesday


What You'll Do
  • Physical introduction and systematic configuration of new or changing materials in production on schedule with implementation dates

  • Assisting in the implementation on new PC processes (e.g., sequencing of materials), often required to complete additional reworks such as repackaging in addition to creating proper Tesla packaging labels with part number, home location, and quantity as NPI materials frequently come in with missing information

  • Supporting special projects for PC, NPI, Pilot, or Process: WH layout and design, signage, labeling, rack installation, procurement, removal, and/or demo

  • Component validation and kitting for engineering build requests and programs and removal of obsolete material in accordance with part specific disposition instructions

  • Provided support for ALL Tesla team members by escalating any identified discrepancies or quality issues when trial parts are needed to be delivered, stored, changed, or removed

  • Being an agent of change: Responding to emails, answering questions, and an overall source of information relating to change

  • Will be placed in specific warehouse site as primary location; however, must be willing to work in all NPI Warehouse sites around Fremont, 901 Page, Deer Creek, 3000 Hanover, Hayward


What You'll Bring
  • Must have experience in Production Control, Warehousing, or Logistics

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain and/or distribution and logistics experience desirable. Prior experience as a Supervisory/Management role is preferred

  • Natural ability to speak and write effectively at all organizational levels and to broad audiences

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts with the ability to lead 5S and kaizen efforts for continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated ability to be a resilient change agent capable of leading organization through paradigm shifts

  • Strong knowledge of Inventory Management and Inventory Control within manufacturing environment with the ability to teach and coach others on best practices

  • Strong knowledge of material flow methodologies including transaction accuracy, reworks, sequencing, kitting, repack, etc.

    Expected Compensation
    $68,000 - $144,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
