A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As an Engineering Technician 3 within Technical Operation, you will partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to support Equipment repair and Preventative Maintenance. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Equipment Services.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Use knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to complete technical tasks in creative and effective ways.
- Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment.
- Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as manufacturing equipment, assembly fixtures and measuring instruments.
- Operate drill press, grinders, milling machine, lathe or other machines to modify parts tested or to fabricate experimental parts for testing.
- Work independently to build or set up equipment, conduct experiments, make detailed observations, collect & analyze data and interpret results.
- Work from limited written and verbal descriptions, basic schematics & diagrams, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, validation and troubleshooting functions.
- Create/modify documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, BOMs and/or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
- Participate in developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
Travel Requirements: Up to 20% of Travel is required between local sites.
Skills You Bring:
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering technician role, fabrication, modification, repair and maintenance of complex test systems. Associate's degree, military technical training, or equivalent vocational and or on the job training.
- Excellent complex problem solving, judgment and decision making skills.
- Knowledge of electronics, mechanical/electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with basic electronic test equipment (meters, oscilloscope), measurement & fabrication tools (calipers/micrometers/indicators, drill press, grinders, milling machine, lathe).
- Strong communication (verbal, written) skills along with the ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to collect and analyze basic experimental data and interpret and effectively communicate results.
- Experience with MS Office products; comfortable with Excel, Word, Teams, etc.
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks), analytical and/or LabVIEW software preferred, but not required.
Preferred Skills: Experience in the semiconductor industry preferred. Experience with vacuum systems is a plus.
