GENERAL FUNCTION: Mentoring employees to assist in a successful transition into their work environment. Train employees to improve their knowledge and skills in the classroom environment and on the job site with practical methods and knowledge adding value to the workforce. Reports to and works under the general direction of the Director Quality Assurance.
TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
*Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations and workshops in the classroom and in the field.
*Develop and implement an electrical testing program for new employees to cover the listed electrical positions, Electrician A, B, C, and Electrical Specialist. Tests are to cover all areas of electrical installation, trouble shooting and testing in Marine Ship Building including LNG powered vessels and the offshore drilling vessel construction industries. Testing will be used for identifying competencies levels.
*Develop and implement electrical training courses for existing employees to cover all areas/phases of electrical construction with respect to current and upcoming projects.
*Confers with supervision to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes and/or upgrades in policies, procedures, regulations and technologies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
*Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of Marine Ship Building including LNG powered vessels and the offshore drilling vessel construction industries.
*Ability to enter, maintain, and generate accurate data and reports for tracking employee progress and status.
*Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
*Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
*Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
*Familiar with applicable and updated regulatory authority's codes including: DnV/ABS/Coast Guard/API/MODU/NEC/IEEE/IEC.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
*High School education or equivalent supplemented by course work or technical training in production management is acceptable.
*Formal training in one or more of the following areas: electrical apprenticeship program, vocational certification or trade school certification for electrical commercial/industrial wiring or equivalent is preferred.
*Knowledge of high voltage cable splicing and stress cones
*Knowledge of ATEX Ex Training (COMPEX)
*Must have a minimum of 10 years' electrical field experience position.
