Requirements
Position Summary
As the central technical liaison for avionics products at our manufacturing site, you will ensure seamless integration and production readiness of the Versatile Integrated Avionics (VIA) system on the Boeing 737/717 and Airplane Information Management System (AIMS) on the Boeing 777. Your work will translate design intent into robust, buildable hardware and procedures, and support shop-floor teams through onboarding, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate avionics product designs (VIA and AIMS LRUs) into kits, build instructions, and manufacturing-ready documentation.
- Provide technical support on the production floor for manufacturing, assembly, and integration of avionics hardware, including first-article builds and qualification test units.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and process engineering teams to resolve hardware interface issues, non-conformances, and rework through structured NCR workflows.
- Generate and maintain manufacturing bill-of-materials, work instructions, tool lists, and build planning artifacts for avionics modules and systems.
- Ensure proper configuration management and version control aligned with release engineering and change control processes.
- Participate in obsolescence and lifecycle-risk mitigation planning (DMSMS), providing alternate-part and redesign assessments for sustained production continuity.
- Support integration validation, troubleshooting, and product acceptance in lab/SIL/HIL environments.
- Communicate with OEMs, suppliers, and internal engineering teams regarding build readiness, compliance, and manufacturing design intent.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in avionics engineering, product support, or manufacturing liaison roles supporting commercial aerospace platforms.
- Familiarity with translating avionics installation and integration drawings into manufacturing procedures and bill-of-materials.
- Handson exposure to shopfloor operations and experience working crossfunctionally with quality and process engineering.
- Experience with NCR reporting, FAA Part21 compliance relevant to avionics assembly, and change control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at aerospace manufacturing or assembly sites (e.g., Boeing Renton, South Charleston, etc.).
- Knowledge of configuration release systems, build planning, and tooling introduction in a production environment.
- Understanding of FAA continuing airworthiness guidance as related to manufacturing release of avionics systems.
- Experience with manufacturing readiness reviews and qualification acceptance processes.
- Familiarity with sourcing and supplier interfacing for avionics LRUs and harnesses.
