Position Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in physical chemistry.

About the College

The Texas Tech University College of Arts & Sciences was founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges. Comprised of 16 departments, the college offers a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences. Students can choose from 42 bachelor's degree programs, 34 master's degrees and 14 doctoral programs. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in physical chemistry, broadly defined. Successful candidates for this position will be part of a major expansion of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, which is among the top academic units at Texas Tech in terms of research funding, publications, and graduate education.

Major/Essential Functions

Faculty Qualifications


  1. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field is required,
  2. Candidates should demonstrate a proven capacity or a record indicative of the ability to develop an independent, well-funded research program and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  3. Candidates will demonstrate a record of strong program-building skills, a commitment to extra-curricular activities and a history of service to the Department, College/University, and Community.
