Summary of position/daily activities:

AEM is seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Power BI Developer to design and develop interactive dashboards and reports that support a Federal Customer's operational and analytical needs. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional with a strong background in Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate, who can deliver scalable, user-centric solutions that drive business intelligence and process automation.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with development teams and stakeholders to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), build robust data models, and deliver impactful visualizations that support data-driven decision-making. Responsibilities include integrating data across Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, optimizing report performance, and ensuring secure, maintainable deployments.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong Power BI portfolio and demonstrate deep technical expertise in SQL, Power Query (M), DAX, and data modeling best practices. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions using Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Apps, while implementing row-level security, managing workspace organization, and configuring data refresh schedules. Familiarity with AI features in Power BI and experience working in Agile environments are essential.

Key duties include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets to support client operations and analytics.
  • Optimize the performance and usability of visualizations.
  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Implement row-level security and managing data refresh schedules.
  • Leverage AI capabilities in Power BI to enhance insights and user experience.
  • Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to complex problems with user centric design for federal clients.
  • Participate in Agile development, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Provide technical documentation, training, and support to end users, federal clients and internal stakeholders.


Basic qualifications/experience (the required qualifications which are critical to be considered for the position:

  • Power BI Desktop and Service
  • DAX and Power Query (M)
  • Data modeling and visualization best practices
  • Azure Synapse and Data Lake integration
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Five to seven years' experience with data integration and visualization tools


Desired skills/certifications (any additional skills desired but not required to be considered for the position):

  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI).
  • Current government security or public trust clearance
