Position Description:

The Department of Economics within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for one or more Tenure-Track Faculty Position(s) in Economics at the level of Assistant Professor starting Fall 2026. We also welcome applications from advanced assistant professors with post-PhD experience. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Position(s) are 100% time with benefits. For more information about the Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty policy, refer to the Policy Manual, 10.1.

Fields of interest include labor, health, public economics, and econometrics. For candidates specializing in labor, health, or public economics, we seek individuals conducting empirical research in applied microeconomics. For those in econometrics, we welcome both theoretical and applied research. These positions are part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our applied microeconomics and econometrics groups. We are looking for exceptional scholars who will contribute to a vibrant research environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues in these areas.

Education Requirement:


  • An earned doctoral degree in economics or a related field, or strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed before August 19, 2026.


Required Qualifications:


  • Evidence of potential for successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in any area of economics.
  • Evidence of potential for publishing significant research in top-tier journals.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • We particularly seek candidates who are prepared to teach classes and conduct research relating to the fields of labor economics, health economics, public economics, or econometrics.
  • For labor, health, and public economics, we are interested in candidates conducting empirical rather than theoretical research.
  • For econometrics, we are interested in both theoretical and applied work.
