Job Description Summary:

Learns the functions of EEG technology and procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury or disease under supervision and according to facility policies and procedures. Eligible for consideration for promotion after one year of work experience and demonstration of competence in core duties and responsibilities.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Performs a variety of investigational procedures on patients, such as Routine, Extended, and Portable video EEGs, and Long Term Epilepsy Monitoring, under direct supervision.
  • Applies, checks, and maintains EEG electrodes correctly, understanding the International 10-20 System for placement.
  • Calibrates and adjusts EEG instrument settings, ensuring high-quality, artifact-free tracings. Performs special recording techniques as necessary.
  • Gains knowledge of EEG technology principles, anatomy, and physiology. Recognizes normal and abnormal EEG activity patterns.
  • Provides patient-focused care, explains procedures clearly to patients or family members, observes clinical manifestations, and handles emergency situations appropriately.
  • Handles administrative duties, such as answering phones, scheduling procedures, keeping records, maintaining supplies, processing patient charges, and ensuring equiptment maintenance.
  • Actively participates in professional development activities, inclusive of conferences, technical meetings, and assigned readings.

Education Requirement:
  • High school graduate, required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences or related field, preferred.

Current CPR certificate, required.


Skills:

Proficient in computer operations and technology.


Experience:

Hospital Experience, preferred.
