Police Department:

The UCF Police Department (UCFPD) is a full service, accredited police department that serves the university community at all four campuses. It is part of the university's public safety umbrella, which includes UCFPD, Victim Services, Emergency Management, and the Department of Security. On the job training will be provided where the selected candidates will interact with professional staff and law enforcement officers.

The Opportunity:

The UCF Police Department is seeking Special Events Assistants to support the setup, breakdown, and day-of operations for various campus events. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy working in dynamic environments and contributing to the success of university events.

Responsibilities:


  • Set up special event equipment, including message boards, light towers, cones, and barricades.

  • Transport equipment and supplies to various locations across campus.

  • Retrieve and store special event equipment after use.

  • Assist with Public Safety operations on football game days.

  • Perform duties in support of other units within Public Safety or UCFPD, as assigned by supervisory personnel.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6). Click here for more information.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous experience supporting specialevents, including coordination with public safety teams.

  • Strong knowledge of the geographic layout of local jurisdictions, the University campus, and key landmarks.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining self-motivated and proactive.

  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a dynamic and public-facing environment.

  • Ability to adapt and perform effectively within a unique community and workplace setting, often with limited direct oversight.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and engage respectfully with the public.

  • Capacity to perform efficiently under pressure in fast-paced or high-stress situations.

  • Familiarity witheventplans, maps, and diagrams, with the ability to interpret and communicate relevant information accurately.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Priority consideration will be given to candidates who complete the application and submit a resume.

Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete a Police Department background investigation which may include: medical, voice stress analysis, drug testing, credit history, and driver's license history.

Schedule may vary based on events and business needs to include evening and weekend coverage.
