At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area by protecting the Columbia River and remediating the Central Plateau. Our Nuclear Safety organization is seeking a Nuclear Safety Co-Op Engineer (Intern). Under direct supervision, the individual will perform job duties that may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under direct supervision, as a Nuclear Safety Engineer Co-Op Engineer (Intern), your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Preparing and maintaining policies, procedures, and training to ensure the Nuclear Safety Organization is compliant with 10 CFR 830, Subpart B, Safety Basis Requirements and implementing DOE Orders.
* Using discretion and, at times, independent judgment to support creation of safety basis documents, which comply with 10 CFR 830, DOE Standards, and CPCCo procedures.
* Supporting development and maintenance of nuclear safety documents including Documented Safety Analyses, Technical Safety Requirements, Hazard Analysis and Control Decision Documents.
* Conducting daily to weekly written and verbal communication with CPCCo Engineering, and Nuclear Safety Management.
* Supporting development of hazard and accident analysis in accordance with DOE-STD-3009, DOE-HDBK-3010, DOE-STD-1120, DOE STD-5506, and DOE-STD-1189 for development of nuclear safety documents.
* Supporting assessments of the Nuclear Safety program and safety basis documents.
* Supporting Operations in maintaining compliance with safety bases.
* Develop a working knowledge of 10 CFR 830, DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-1120, DOE-STD-1189 and Unreviewed Safety Question requirements.
* Using Mathcad, MACCS, MCNP programs to complete tasks.


Basic Qualifications


*At least 18 years of age.
*Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program, focusing on nuclear, mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical or related engineering discipline.
*Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
*Currently enrolled with either Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU-TC), Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online student living local to the Tri-Cities, WA.
*Students will be sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution.
*Willing and able to work 15-40 hours a week on a Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. schedule.


Desired Qualifications


*Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Team player with good interpersonal skills.


Compensation & Benefits


Starting rate is based on academic standing and field of degree, ranging from an hourly rate of $22.60 to $30.10 plus an additional $4.93 health & welfare adder in accordance with the Service Contract Act.
