The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Electronic Tech D, CAT3 - Radar to provide research support administration services for our government customer in Kekaha, Hawai'i.
Supporting radars, as well as being cross-trained and cross-utilized in other departments, the candidate shall possess working knowledge and be capable, under guidance, of troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, overhauling, modifying, calibrating, operating and performing other related tasks on radar systems and equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will be trained to operate and maintain radar equipment such as: MPS-25, FPQ-10, FPS-16 AN/SPS-67, SPS-48E SSR/Furuno, ROSA 1, ROSA 2, COSIP and all other assigned equipment/systems under guidance.
- Perform periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and /or O&M guidelines. Document results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
- With assistance and guidance, troubleshoot and repair systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using simple and complex test equipment.
- Assist in preparation of system reports, preventative maintenance logs and other logs or reports as they pertain to the daily operations of radar systems.
- Assist with installations, checks, calibrations, and performance of acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment.
- Set up, check out, operate, and monitor systems and equipment in support of Range Operations. Responds to changing operational requirements when directed.
- Assist in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Environment:
- This position may require extended at-sea deployment
- This position is primarily located at Makaha Ridge/Kokee Park instrumentation sites
- Customer contact, extended workdays, an office laboratory as well as field assignments sometimes during inclement weather.
- Electronics shop environment at various operating locations throughout PMRF.
Physical Activities:
- Must be able to lift, carry, install and remove electronic equipment and peripherals.
- May be required to work in sub-floor areas and crawl spaces in performing maintenance inspections and troubleshoot tasks.
- Lifting and or pulling over 50lb with two-men assist.
- Walking, sitting or standing, crawling, kneeling or cramped or confined spaces, for periods of time, and work requiring repeated or frequent stair climbing.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) Year Technical School or equivalent training such as Navy "A" school or recognized correspondence is required.
- Two (2) years of technical experience can be substituted for each year of required education.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years of progressive experience in a related field or an AS degree in electronics.
- Previous radar experience is desired but not required.
- Fundamental knowledge of basic electronics, computers, electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair.
- Possess and demonstrate knowledge of electronics theory.
- Able to use, apply and understand test and measurement equipment.
- Must possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and MSDOS Windows
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
