Position Description

The Programmer Analyst II's role is to develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Programmer Analyst II will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle.

Major/Essential Functions

Software Engineering-Existing Applications (35%)

  • Maintains and supports existing software systems (in-house, third-party, and integrated) in collaboration with the IT team.
  • Performs testing, analysis, documentation, modifications, and implementation of upgrades and maintenance activities throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment to ensure business continuity, data integrity, and compliance with university policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Software Engineering-New Applications & Reporting (35%)
  • Implements new software solutions in coordination with IT and departmental leadership to meet evolving business needs.
  • Assists with all phases of new system development, including testing, documentation, rollout, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Conducts data mining and analysis to generate accurate and timely reports in support of departmental operations and strategic goals.
  • Ensures new solutions conform to regulatory, institutional, and departmental standards.
Customer Support & Training (30%)
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves issues from departmental and campus users, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Proactively communicates concerns and risks to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
  • Participates in and conducts training sessions, team meetings, and user engagement activities to support effective system use and user adoption.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus one (1) year related full-time experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.

Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.
