Systems Administrator II is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systems. This role typically involves tasks such as configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software, implementing security measures, monitoring system performance, and providing technical support to end-users. Systems Administrator II often works under the guidance of senior administrators and plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of IT systems within the organization. Systems Administrator II Responsibilities Include:
- Managing, deploying solutions, troubleshooting and resolving service-related issues.
- Configuring services to meet the needs of the organization.
- Designing and managing swap space in the cloud environment
- Provides configuration and tuning of systems (including Windows, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers), and support to client data centers.
- Creates and implements scripts in an enterprise environment to include scripting for: Hyper-V administration, Failover cluster administration, and Windows server administration.
- Creates, configures, and maintains virtual machines in a failover cluster environment.
- Automates where possible and the creation and management of virtual machines.
- Plans, configures, and maintains hyper-converge infrastructure according to manufacturer and industry best practices.
- Creates automation for repeating system administration tasks.
- Assists in Tier 1/2/3 support issues.
- Creates and maintains well-written and easy-to-understand documentation for new and existing system processes and configurations with minimal oversight.
- Plans, configures, and maintains Dell SAN arrays, Windows server, Linux and Oracle hardware, operating systems, and features in accordance with vendor best practices.
- Creates technical documentation to include Service Level Agreements, As-Is, To-Be, and Continuity of Operations/Disaster Recovery with minimal oversight.
- Recommends and provides technical expertise and assistance with planning, configuring, and implementing new technologies related to storage, compute, and backup technologies.
- Configures and maintains backup technologies to include backup software, reporting, LTO tape libraries, backup to disks, and backup to cloud integration.
- Provides In-depth knowledge of cloud technology, design, implementation, and remote management.
- Assists with the implementation of the necessary defined security controls as they relate to the client infrastructure in accordance with the Cyber Security Assessment and Management (CSAM) systems.
- Assesses outcomes of vulnerability scanning to include the development and implementation of corrective actions to remediate vulnerabilities.
- Performs adding, modifying, and deleting access rights granted to system and application users of the information system. This includes user account management and periodic administrative tasks as defined in the client's Access Control Policy and Procedures.
- Assesses the new system or application requirements for security implications.
- Performs patch management and vulnerability for physical and virtual machines and firmware updates for physical servers.
- Performs routine backups of the failover SQL cluster and storage management for the failover SQL cluster.
- Performs patch management and vulnerability mitigation of failover SQL cluster nodes and SQL software.
- Designs, configures, implements, and maintains failover SQL cluster hardware and software configurations per manufacturer and industry best practices.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Systems Administrator II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- 1+ years Cloud Infrastructure Administration (AWS, Azure)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (Azure-900) or higher-level Azure certification is required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Technology preferred or relevant experience.
- Proficiency in creating and deploying process automation (PowerShell)
- Technical Writing and Standard Operating Procedures- Ability to build technical documentation, manuals and IT processes & procedures.
- Microsoft Operating Systems - Windows OS (Win10-11) and Windows Server (2016-2022) OS
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, Power Platform)
- Demonstrates ability to deliver results with multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication skills
