Overview The Associate General Counsel, Employment provides expert legal guidance and support to the Office of the General Counsel's functions including risk management functions, general legal functions, contract review, healthcare transactions, policy review, litigation and claims management, with an emphasis on employment matters, and other duties as designated. This position is integral to safeguarding Children's Mercy's legal interests, managing risks, and facilitating strategic business decisions. The Associate General Counsel will collaborate with senior leadership, oversee some legal operations, and contribute to the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures. An essential element of all functions will to be to stay up-to-date on current state and federal and international law and regulatory requirements applicable to the areas of responsibility through self-study, and participation and/or attendance in ongoing education or seminars. By leveraging their extensive legal expertise, the Associate General Counsel will help drive the organization's success and uphold its ethical standards. Leads risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation, including work as assigned with hospital leaders, focused on defense of employment-related claims. Oversees and manages the work of outside defense counsel retained for employment-related claimsAssists or manages as directed with other healthcare legal matters, including other categories of litigation and claims, regulatory compliance, contracting, corporate matters, and healthcare transactions.

Offer will be determined based on your education and experience. Remote Work/Work from Home This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
