About the Team

OpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission.

The Procurement team advises our business partners to make the best investments, ensures we acquire the resources needed for growth, and enables our mission through efficient procurement practices.

About the Role

We're seeking a Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager to lead sourcing across OpenAI's product, payments, and go-to-market technology stack. You'll support high-speed product launches, work with Growth and Payments teams on global expansion, and serve as a trusted sourcing partner across revenue infrastructure, APIs, product enablement tools, and monetization systems.

You'll report to the Head of Technology Strategic Sourcing and work closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Legal, and Finance leaders to build sourcing strategies that scale with OpenAI's user base, monetization footprint, and global reach. Your work will shape how we partner with key suppliers and enable OpenAI to bring new products to market faster, more reliably, and more cost-effectively.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead sourcing and commercial strategy across revenue infrastructure (PSPs, APMs, token vaults, fraud tools), product enablement APIs, and go-to-market tooling.

  • Partner with Product, Growth, and Payments teams to launch new products and payment experiences, including international expansion and new monetization strategies.

  • Serve as program manager across complex deals: managing timelines, driving alignment across stakeholders, and owning negotiations through close.

  • Structure flexible commercial models ranging from early-stage API vendors to scaled platforms with a focus on optionality, rollout speed, and minimizing switching costs.

  • Coordinate across Legal, Product, and Security teams to address regulatory, privacy, and data flow considerations in supplier selection and contract execution.

  • Provide commercial leadership on key strategic initiatives-whether launching a new A/B testing platform, localizing a checkout experience, or integrating with a PSP in a new region.

  • Build and maintain supplier relationships across product lifecycle stages: onboarding, enablement, scaling, and renewal.

  • Continuously improve sourcing workflows for fast-moving product teams: creating clarity on roles, timelines, redlines, and risks.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in product and payments-ideally within a high-growth, product-led environment.

  • Strong program and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of coordinating across Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to move work forward.

  • Deep familiarity with how product and payments teams operate-including experimentation, rollouts, feature flags, and vendor integrations.

  • Experience negotiating commercial and technical agreements with PSPs, APMs, fraud vendors, API-based platforms, or product tooling suppliers.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed-able to move fast with incomplete information while staying aligned to legal, security, and commercial guardrails.

  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to bring structure, clarity, and actionable options to fast-moving product teams.

  • Analytical skills to evaluate pricing models, usage growth, and supplier risk in context of product and revenue plans.

  • An ownership mindset to independently drive initiatives, make tradeoffs, and close out work with minimal oversight.

  • A desire to accelerate OpenAI's mission by enabling better vendor partnerships, faster launches, and more effective execution at scale.
