Description
Position Title: Survey Estimator Department: Geomatics Location: Wilmington, NC Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview The Estimator will play a key role in the success of our land surveying projects by performing detailed quantity calculations and cost estimates for various types of surveying assignments, including construction staking, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic (topo) surveys. The Estimator will review project requirements, develop accurate project budgets, and collaborate with both technical and administrative staff to ensure that proposals and deliverables align with client expectations and company standards. Key Responsibilities
- Review project scope documents, plans, and specifications to determine survey requirements and deliverables.
- Calculate quantities and develop cost estimates for construction staking, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, and topographic surveys.
- Prepare and submit clear, comprehensive project estimates and proposals.
- Identify labor, materials, equipment, and time requirements for each project.
- Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, and CAD technicians to gather project data and verify assumptions.
- Track market rates and collaborate with vendors/subcontractors as needed for pricing.
- Assist with value engineering by identifying efficient methods for completing projects.
- Maintain documentation of all assumptions, calculations, and estimate revisions.
- Support project managers during bid clarifications and negotiations with clients.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED under qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- Familiarity with construction staking, boundary, ALTA, and topo surveys. (Preferred)
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, maps, and legal descriptions. (Preferred)
