Description

The Training Manager will be responsible for coordinating the development, design, and execution of a skills-based metalworking training program that will result in qualified metalworking individuals and support personnel in an effort to provide an ongoing stream of qualified and certified metalworking operators for Ellwood National Forge.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Manage on the job training through actual operation and assistance, testing employee knowledge, and evaluating trainee performance
  • Coordinate, review and assist the Operations Team in development of training curriculum, core competencies by job classification, and successful documentation of completions by team members.
  • Identify resources required to maximize the training processes including acquiring equipment, computers, texts, and other tools necessary for the hands-on, computer-based, and classroom training.
  • Maintain and expand a digital training library consisting of multiple publishers and training topics.
  • Develop operating guidelines for the equipment at each work center to be provided to team members on assignment.
  • Assist in writing Work Instructions for complex operations and parts.
  • Maintain administrative aspects of the skills development program: Class Schedules and attendance, competency certification, providing feedback to supervision on trainee progress, and participate in internal and external training record audits.
  • Make recommendations to management in accordance with improved training procedures and equipment.


  • Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.


  • Meet the needs of team members in training by altering reporting location and scheduled hours as needed.
  • Perform other duties as business needs necessitate.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Years of Experience relevant to the position
  • 5 years' manufacturing experience; knowledge of the processes, products, and metalworking features that are performed at the Ellwood Irvine industrial complex would be a plus.
  • Previous training experience preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills including formal presentations;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Hands-on, working manager who is results oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Well organized, analytical and detail oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must have ability and desire to work well with others.
  • Ability to work independently, yet able to follow instructions.
  • Travel as necessary
