Position Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. This role is critical in overseeing project accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and supporting financial reporting for complex construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with a developed understanding of construction accounting practices.



Key Responsibilities



  • Supervise and mentor a team of project accountants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in job cost processing and billing.
  • Knowledge of billing methodologies including Lump Sum and GMP.
  • Knowledge of Percentage of Completion Accounting method.
  • Help to facilitate the monthly close process including review of monthly accruals and WIP reports.
  • Prepare and review owner billings in accordance with contractual terms and project milestones.
  • Set up new jobs in the accounting system, ensuring alignment with internal control procedures.
  • Identify and communicate areas of financial risk to project teams and senior management.
  • Administer jobs with complex contractual terms independently, including those for high-profile clients.
  • Provide accounting support to project management teams, including job cost analysis and billing coordination.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including job profit/loss analysis, unbilled revenue tracking, and account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and support owner audits and facilitate job closeout processes, including accruals and final reconciliations.
  • Resolve billing and payment issues with clients and subcontractors.
  • Lead training and onboarding for new accounting staff.
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize CMiC or similar project management/accounting software for billing and reporting functions.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, billing processes, and job cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and project management software (CMIC/Autodesk experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across departments and with all levels of management.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
