We are seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineering Specialist to support the analysis and design of transit stations, maintenance facilities, and other transportation infrastructure projects. These projects may include new construction as well as additions and renovations to existing facilities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for structural engineering, a drive to develop innovative and economical design solutions, and a desire to grow professionally. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet project goals and timelines. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design in accordance with applicable building codes and project requirements.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well-organized engineering calculations and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the development of construction drawings and technical details.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Lead smaller-scale structural projects, including coordination, design, and documentation.
  • Review contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) and shop drawings.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including site visits and structural observations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship-focused work environment.
Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering (required).
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (preferred).
Coursework (Preferred):
  • Structural Analysis
  • Advanced Structural Analysis
  • Reinforced Concrete Design
  • Steel Design
  • Structural Dynamics or Earthquake Engineering
Experience:
  • 1-3 years of progressive structural engineering experience, particularly with building structures.
  • Hands-on experience with structural systems including concrete, steel, and masonry.
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Building Code.

Compensation Range:

$64,848.58 - $86,464.77
