Job Title: Quality Control Technician


Classification:Hourly


Reports To: Quality Manager

Summary of Job


The Quality Control Technician assists the Process Technicians in managing the plants' Quality Assurance system. This includes helping establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS), championing continuous improvement efforts, and defect reduction initiatives in a team-based environment. Initiate and implement quality improvement activities to raise the performance of the company's product lines. Educate and train employees in other departments as to their impact on the quality management system.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities




  • Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis' core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
  • Promptly respond to all quality defects reported by floor personnel.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Investigates and direct the response to customers and/or customer complaints.
  • Ensure the implementation of Quality Assurance systems to ensure that WIP and finished goods specifications are met, and that product shipped to customers is within specification. Coordinate ongoing activities to ensure that specifications represent fitness-for-use and are sufficient to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Verifying customer orders' before they are shipped out- checking for possible product defects.
  • Analyze customer product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and document standard operating procedures and conditions for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Perform basic calibration and operation of various testing equipment.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in process/product development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Roll out quality training programs to all plant employees.
  • Conduct various internal audits (process and product) and report on the results.
  • Update and post floor quality metrics.
  • Ensure proper containment and perform stock purges when required due to quality problems.
  • Assist in the implementation of work instruction and quality plans.
  • Minor 5s tasks.
  • Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.


Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods.Promptly reports all quality defects to Plant ManagementAcquires knowledge/ skills of Maintenance Technicians, Operators, Assistant Operators to better assist and troubleshoot when needed.Attends meetings and completes safety trainings as required.Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)



  • Ability to take coaching well and communicates respectfully with others to ensure a positive teamwork culture.
  • Previous experience with product testing in a lab environment.
  • Promote positive teamwork culture.
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with leadership team members.
  • Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Inside work
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Humidity may exceed 80%
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+

  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed.



Position Type



  • Full time
  • Schedule: M-F, 8-hour shift, occasional weekend availability per business demand.
  • Overtime expected per business demand.



Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.


  • Minimum 2-year manufacturing preferred
  • 2+ years in a quality role within manufacturing facility
