The Role

We are looking for a strategic, solutions-oriented leader to work on our Accounting Operations team as Manager, Accounting Operations & Process Optimization. In this role, you will report to the Director, Accounting Operations and be responsible for improving our finance function's performance, precision, and efficiency. You will lead a high-impact team managing core accounting processes-including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and finance technology-and will be expected to continuously identify challenges, evaluate risk, and implement effective solutions across systems and workflows. This is an ideal role for a critical thinker who thrives on untangling complexity, designing scalable processes, and leading change with confidence.

Key Result Areas

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the AP and AR functions, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance standards
  • Execute problem-solving strategies to improve the quality and speed of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Assess and strengthen accounting policies and internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Actively collaborate with Financial Reporting, FP&A, and internal audit teams to diagnose root causes of financial discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement cross-functional process improvements, automation tools, and innovative solutions to elevate operational performance
  • Champion data-informed decision-making, leveraging insights to improve reconciliation, forecasting, and systems integration
  • Oversee key balance sheet account reconciliations and verify integrity of financial data through analytical review
  • Provide critical leadership during ERP upgrades and new technology implementations, balancing system capability with business requirements
  • Coach and mentor team members to foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance

  • Process Innovation: Proven track record of reengineering accounting processes, reducing friction, and enhancing controls and compliance through technology and workflow design
  • Change Leadership: Adept at managing through ambiguity, leading transformation initiatives, and influencing stakeholders across functions
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in financial operations, reconciliations, and documentation while managing competing priorities
  • System Savvy: Deep experience with ERP systems, process automation tools, and digital financial platforms; ability to leverage technology to scale efficiency and visibility
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong team management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Builds trust and drives accountability across levels
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and lead through complexity

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity required
  • 4+ years in financial reporting roles preferred
  • Deep knowledge of financial accounting, internal controls, and operational process design
  • Experience leading problem-solving initiatives involving ERP systems, financial platforms, and cross-functional teams
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with reconciliation tools, workflow systems, and data visualizations
  • Industry experience in insurance, especially property and casualty, is a plus
  • Prior experience leading general ledger conversions or major system implementations preferred
  • CPA certification is highly desirable
