Job Description
The Senior Director of IT Portfolio Management & Strategic Operations plays a critical, highly visible role in shaping and executing the IT strategy across the enterprise. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to the CIO and IT Senior Leadership, with frequent engagement with C-suite executives and cross-functional business leaders. The position is responsible for driving transparency into IT investments, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and enabling executive decision-making through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations. The successful candidate will ensure that IT portfolio processes operate with discipline and rigor but also that technology priorities are clearly communicated and well-understood across the enterprise. A core success measure for this role is to enhance visibility and understanding of the organization's technology strategy, enabling informed decisions that balance risk, value, and operational needs. This position will be located (hybrid) ineither Schaumburg, IL or Secaucus, NJ. Pay Range: $210,000 - $250,000/year + Annual Incentive Plan + Long-Term Incentive Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation. Responsibilities:
IT Portfolio Management & Prioritization
Lead the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of IT initiatives, working closely with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Maintain and evolve portfolio governance processes to ensure clarity, accountability, and consistency in decision-making and resource allocation. Track performance of IT investments across programs and projects, delivering insights to inform C-suite and executive-level discussions on risk, value, and trade-offs. Develop and present executive-level dashboards, analytics, and strategic recommendations that provide transparency into IT roadmaps and outcomes. Partner with Finance, PMO, and Enterprise Strategy teams to monitor budgets, manage investment pipelines, and support long-term planning. Lead and develop a team responsible for maintaining the IT portfolio of work, ensuring high-quality execution, data integrity, reporting accuracy, and continuous process improvement.
IT Senior Leadership Engagement & Strategic Execution
Act as a strategic thought partner to the CIO and IT Senior Leadership, regularly interfacing with C-suite executives to drive alignment on business-technology priorities. Prepare and facilitate IT Senior Leadership meetings, including materials for decision-making, tracking of key outcomes, and follow-through on strategic initiatives. Facilitate the collection, analysis, and presentation of key operational data and performance metrics for review during the IT Operating Review sessions, ensuring leadership has clear, actionable insights to assess progress and guide decisions. Create compelling narratives, reports, and presentations that translate complex IT information into actionable, executive-ready insights. Support the execution of enterprise-wide IT initiatives, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and timely delivery of outcomes. Oversee operational planning, including headcount management, org design activities, and talent engagement initiatives in partnership with HR. Lead special projects that improve governance, strategic alignment, and operational performance across the IT function.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree is required. An advanced degree/MBA is preferred. Strong understanding of IT governance, portfolio planning, and investment management practices. Demonstrated ability to manage portfolio tools and deliver robust executive reporting and strategic analysis. Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence and engage with C-level stakeholders. Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and a passion for driving technology value across the enterprise. Experience navigating matrixed, fast-paced environments and fostering cross-team alignment. Experience supporting senior IT executives or C-suite stakeholders in a strategic or operational capacity. Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or other delivery frameworks. The ability to travel 25-50%.
