Systems Engineer 4

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering ofLam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutionsare helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.

As a Systems Engineer at Lam, you'll design complex systems, or products for our wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, and firmware into a cohesive system. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses combined with your multi-layered technical expertise you help shape the next generation of Lam initiatives.

Prototyping and Testing:

Conduct comprehensive testing on prototypes, including electrical, functional, and environmental stress testing.

Utilize debugging tools to identify and resolve software defects and hardware-related issues. Analyze system timing to ensure timing specific constraints are met.

Integration and Validation:

Work closely with hardware and software engineers to understand system requirements and ensure seamless software-hardware integration.

Document technical design specifications, code comments, and test reports.

Develop and execute system-level validation tests to ensure the overall performance of the embedded system meets requirements.

Support:

Provide technical support for manufacturing and production teams during hardware assembly and testing.

Troubleshoot hardware issues that arise during development or deployment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with no experience; or equivalent experience. We will consider an associate's degree, electrical, computer engineering or related field with relevant experience.

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of electronic design principles, including analog and digital circuits, power management, and signal integrity.

Problem-Solving:

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose hardware or firmware issues and identify root causes.

Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and resolve technical challenges within a team environment.

Collaboration:

Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other cross-functional teams.

• Knowledge of communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet and EtherCAT.
• Familiarity with object-oriented coding.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
