Hours Per Week:varies by semster, 3-8 hrs/wk Work Schedule: Position Type:Part-Time Faculty, Exempt Position Summary Anne Arundel Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Laboratory Instructor in Medical Laboratory Sciences to support the clinical education and training of medical laboratory students. This position plays a vital role in providing hands-on laboratory instruction, ensuring compliance with safety and quality protocols, and promoting excellence in technical skills within the college's teaching laboratories.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, mentoring, and accuracy in laboratory procedures. Responsibilities include supervising students during laboratory sessions, reinforcing proper techniques, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures, and providing constructive feedback to enhance student learning. The Laboratory Instructor will collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain high technical standards, assess student competency, and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
Candidates must possess current professional credentials as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician (ASCP or equivalent) and have recent clinical or laboratory instruction experience. This position pays $1,170 per FLH Job Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and mentor medical laboratory students in a laboratory setting, ensuring they develop the necessary skills for accurate and high-quality testing.
Provide hands-on training in laboratory procedures, including microbiology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, and urinalysis techniques.
Ensure students adhere to safety protocols, OSHA and HIPAA regulations, and ethical and legal standards in laboratory practice.
Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills in laboratory decision-making.
Oversee laboratory activities to ensure safety, effectiveness, and adherence to professional standards.
Maintain clean, organized laboratory spaces and ensure proper stocking of necessary reagents and supplies.
Monitor equipment function, arrange for maintenance, and report issues promptly.
Conduct student performance evaluations, competency assessments, and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and skill development.
Participate in curriculum development, instructional planning, and continuous improvement of the program. Required Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited program.
Current ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical laboratory experience.
Previous teaching or mentoring experience preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of laboratory information systems preferred.
