Salary range:
The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $255,000 - $360,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence within its faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking a surgical pathologists with subspecialty training and expertise in Head and Neck/Cardiothoracic Pathology to join its Division of Anatomic Pathology.

The successful candidates will have clinical responsibilities for specimens associated with robust general care, organ transplant, and cancer programs at UC San Diego Health, including the Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center (the region's only NCI-designated Cancer Center), Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and Cardiovascular Institute, Jacobs Medical Center, Hillcrest Medical Center, and the Koman Family and McGrath Outpatient Pavilions, as well as our referral/outreach/consultation programs and an expanding clinical integration network.

The successful candidates will also primarily attend and sign out on the subspecialized head and neck, and/or cardiothoracic pathology of the Anatomic Pathology Division, but may also sign out on other Anatomic Pathology services as clinically required. Additionally, the successful candidates will teach medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as demonstrate academic productivity in the area of Head and Neck/Cardiothoracic Pathology.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, DO, or MD/PhD in Pathology or related fields.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates who have at least 2 years of experience in a subspecialized practice signing out cases in Head & Neck Pathology, Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology, and/or Cardiovascular Pathology, and/or have completed fellowship training in Head & Neck Pathology and/or Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology, and/or Cardiovascular Pathology, and/or Surgical Pathology (with an emphasis on Head & Neck Pathology, Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology, and/or Cardiovascular Pathology) are preferred.
