Position Summary

As the Manager, Accounting you will report directly to the Senior Manager, Accounting and have shared responsibility for managing the corporate accounting function. Your responsibilities will consist of managing direct reports, managing the global accounting, consolidation and elimination processes including the intercompany accounting functions, as well as corporate accruals, stock compensation, cash management accounting, payroll/benefits accounting, acquisition and divestiture accounting, equity accounting, and the account reconciliation process. In this role you will also be responsible for developing and leading financial systems training for the Global Finance team. As a Manager, Accounting you will serve as a liaison to the EMEA, LATAM, and APAC Accounting, Manufacturing Accounting and Business Finance teams to support Global business operations to ensure comprehensive and consistent processes. You will also be responsible for assisting with all internal and external audit requirements, process improvement initiatives, and managing integration efforts related to acquisitions and financial system and process integration.



This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite at either our Mentor, OH Corporate HQ, or our Eden Prairie, MN location 2 days a week.

What You'll do as a Manager, Accounting

  • Manage and supervise Corporate Accounting and Intercompany Accounting personnel including assigned supervisors, senior accountants, staff accountants and financial analysts, as well as external resources utilized for projects on an as needed basis.
  • Provide direction, coaching and support to team. Ensure performance management practices are in place to foster an engaged, productive team.
  • Provide finance training and system training to staff and direct reports in finance organization as needed.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and global consolidation process.
  • Manage and supervise accounting support provided to business segments including coordination with Business Unit Controllers to ensure accurate management reporting for operational management decision support.
  • Manage all payroll accounting including funding standard payrolls, severance payments, bonus payments, deferred compensation, 3rd party payments and all other benefit related compensation.
  • Coordinate and execute SOX documentation and internal controls relative to all general accounting processes and practices including but not limited to financial statement close, account reconciliations, accruals and estimates, and intercompany accounting.
  • Coordinate all global efforts related to accounting for intercompany transactions to ensure appropriate elimination in consolidation of intercompany accounts (trade, lending and investments activities)
  • Support SEC financial reporting, internal management reporting and statutory reporting functions with data requests, as needed.
  • Manage the integration of acquisitions/divestitures to ensure appropriate accounting for consolidation includingintercompany transactions, as applicable. Work with the Financial Systems team on acquisition implementations and legal entity additions/consolidations.
  • Assist in the execution of plans to enhance efficiency and accuracy of processes in the Corporate Accounting department.
  • Share best operational practices, implement lean standards and integrate robotic automation improvements to drive consistency and ensure standard processes across the Global Accounting functions.
  • In cooperation with Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements including the development, adoption and execution of new or modified accounting policies.
  • In cooperation with the Corporate Tax department, ensure accounting for income taxes is in accordance with ASC 740 and reflective of operating results and financial position of separate legal entities. Support the Corporate Tax department with data requests relative to return preparation and audit information requests.
  • Manage the share-based compensation related processing and systems and ensure compliance with all share-based compensation related accounting in accordance with ASC 718.
  • Manage the quarterly revenue deferral process for North America in cooperation with business unit representatives and distribution and customer service personnel.
  • Provide supervision and management of company's response to requests by both internal and external auditors in relation to accounting issues.
  • Act as one of the primary liaisons between Corporate Accounting and the global accounting teams in EMEA, LATAM, and APAC, manufacturing sites, and with other
  • Corporate Finance departments such as Treasury, Tax, A/P etc.
  • Assist in facilitating/presenting in finance meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Special projects as required.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience at various levels



Preferred:



  • CPA or Master degree preferred.
  • 3+ years experience with technical accounting research, acquisition integration, and/or system implementationprojects preferred.
  • Accounting experience in a multi-national medical device or manufacturing company preferred.
  • Oracle Financials, COGNOS, Longview experience preferred.



Other:



  • Demonstrated leadership skills including, taking initiative, initiating change, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, translating ideas into specific tasks, gaining confidence and trust of others.
  • Manage and participate on special projects as required.
  • Employee must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting theories and practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
  • This position will regularly interact with corporate management and Operations Finance (Business supportfinance).
  • Presentations in both small and large group settings.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel and Word.
  • Extremely detail and results-oriented.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks.
  • Proven ability to develop plans and manage special projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are a must.

Pay range for this opportunity is$113,900.00-$147,400.00.This position is eligible forbonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
