Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer will ensure that our suppliers of custom engineered hardware are capable of consistently and reliably manufacturing / fabricating hardware to Oceaneering purchase orders via design drawings, specifications, and requirements with minimum oversight, inspection, or rework. The Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer: Support projects, programs, and new development by providing technical input and guidance on manufacturing techniques to suppliers of custom hardware in precision machining, welding, coatings, and raw materials. Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), First Article Inspection (FAI) development, Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) documentation, assessing design manufacturability, constructability, clarification of specifications, understanding / application of quality codes, process enhancements, and improvements. Lead FAI, ITP, Pre-production meetings, and investigations Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE), Evaluate and mitigate supplier production risks in the early phase of manufacturing / fabrication. Work with suppliers to develop and implement best practices and supplier development that target defect prevention, variation, and waste. Lead investigations and conduct root cause analyses, provide recommendations for improvement to resolve problems and prevent schedule delays. LOCATION:

- Requires periodic work at site, travel to supplier sites; otherwise, a hybrid position.
Duties And Responsibilities
TECHNICAL REVIEWS OF ENGINEERING DRAWINGS:
- Review engineering drawings, applicable specifications, and standards to ensure the manufacturability of fabrications and assemblies.
- Review bid or purchase order packages for custom hardware to ensure proper callouts of specs, Quality Codes, and any weldment items that may present an issue for the supplier during manufacturing.
- Liaise with Engineering and Welding SME to resolve issues with engineering documentation, missing weld symbols, callouts, wrong parts on BOMs, and incomplete or unclear drawings.
- Lead and/or participate in supplier pre-production meetings, technical interchange discussions, and problem resolution discussions.
- Lead investigations using RCA tools of failures that may include both supplier and OII responsibilities.
STANDARD WORK:
- Participate in supplier selection, lead supplier audits.
- Interface with Engineering, SCM Category Managers and Regional Supplier Managers.
- Support technical status meetings.
- Act as Senior SQE, support peer SQE's in reviews of procedures, drawings, machining improvements, etc.
- Perform routine Quality activities such as retrieving and reviewing supplier performance data, writing non conformances / CAPAs, and work with suppliers to resolve identified issues or defects.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with review and revision of global supplier quality procedures.
- Review of supplier corrective action plans.
- Lead supplier development activities.
- Prepare and present status presentations related to suppliers' performance.
- Oversee performance of a select set of suppliers aligned with SCM team focus.
- Review PO package, i.e., drawings, specs, and standards to ensure design is suitable for manufacturability.
- Recommend and/or lead cost improvement activities related to areas of responsibility.
- Maintain good working relations, coordinate/ integrate with shop personnel, write reports.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in manufacturing,
- Proficient with precision machining, forging, and casting,
- Ability to read and interpret complex design drawings & related specs, etc.
- Proficient with NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT) and how they are applied to structural fabrication.
DESIRED:
- 10-15 years of manufacturing experience with small and large fabricated components
- Training or hands-on experience in fundamentals including Lean, Six Sigma, and Visual Management
- Experience in basic Quality tools; 8D, first pass yield, FTQ, investigations, FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma, NC/CAPA, etc.
- Familiarity with typical structural materials, including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, and aluminum.
- Knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing.
- Advanced use of standard Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Information
This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
