Lift Evacuation Specialist

Appointment Type: Seasonal Full Time

Overview:

This is a non-supervisory position that will provide training in lift evacuations. This position is responsible for the maintenance and ordering of all rescue equipment needed for lift evacuations. The Lift Evacuation Specialist reports directly to the Director of Patrol and Ski Patrol Manager. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Solitude Ski Patrol Union.

Key requirements:
  • Must be employed as a Solitude Mountain Patroller
  • The ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in lift evacuation techniques and rescues on all lifts
  • The ability to teach and train ski patrol in lift evacuation techniques
  • The ability to keep organized records of all lift evacuation equipment
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines (NSAA Lift Evacuation Guide) and ANSI requirements as they pertain to lift evacuation
  • Ski Patrol Level 1 or above


Duties:
  • Oversee and coordinate lift evacuation training for ski patrol, including refresher training, with patrol management and other specialist roles
  • Properly document all lift evacuation and tower climber training for staff
  • The ability to research new and different lift evacuation techniques
  • The ability to research and prepare orders of rescue ropes and specialized equipment as needed
  • Log new equipment purchases, track age and use of equipment
  • Communicate equipment replacement needs or retirement schedule to leadership for department budgeting
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory log of all lift evacuation equipment
  • The ability to research and prepare orders of rescue ropes and specialized equipment as needed
  • The ability and skills to properly care for and maintain all rescue ropes and equipment, including ensuring proper storage
  • Conduct and document pre-season, post-season, monthly, and post-use inspections
