Yamhill County Health & Human Services has one regular full-time position for a Behavior Consultant (Human Services Specialist I) on the Behavior Support Services (BSS) team. Using a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Model, Behavior Consultants conduct interviews and observations with clients and care providers, write person-centered evaluations, develop robust behavior support plans, and make environmental and other recommendations. They also provide coaching, mentoring, and training to caregivers in care facilities/settings and in client homes. The focus is on improving interactions and addressing challenging behaviors, cognitive processing issues, communication skills, self-help activities, impulse control and/or adaptive skills. Our program provides this service to older adults and adults with complex needs in Yamhill, Polk, and Marion Counties.

The Qualifications:
- Requires a master's degree in a human services related field (or equivalent);
OR
- a bachelor's degree in human services related field plus at least one year of related work experience.
- An appropriate combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree.
- Must meet eligibility requirements to become credentialed as a QMHA or QMHP through the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO).
- A license to drive in the state of Oregon is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and maintain this certification during employment.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, developing behavior support plans, and providing staff training preferred.
Will be subject to successful completion of a background check.

Other essential characteristics and skills include proficiency in general keyboarding and computer use, ability to work effectively in a busy team environment, and an understanding of general mental health, developmental disabilities, chemical dependency, social structure, agency functioning, and individual differences in people.
