Mountain West Bank is looking to hire a skilled SBA Loan Assistant. This position will be located in our Coeur, d'Alene, Idaho SBA offices. This position is perfect for any individual who excels at customer service, is detail oriented, is versed in banking documentation and has the ability to handle complelx tasks effciently.

The SBA Loan assistant will work under general supervision, and will perform routine duties related to preparing, assembling, and verifying the accuracy of SBA loan documentation; the assistant services the borrowers and acts as an assistant to the relationship. Candidates must have minimum of three (3) years of clerical experience in a banking or SBA enviroment. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate clear communication, provide top-notch customer service, have impeccable manners, and possess excellent written and grammatical skills. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position requiring availability from 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function for this position. Minimum starting rate is $21.30+ DOE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • When requested, submit appraisal-bid-request to approved appraisers and engage when required.
  • Order and review loan documents to ensure proper vesting, legal descriptions, dates, signatures, etc. Prepare documentation sheets and check off all items as they are received. Ensure the files are completed in a timely manner. May act as closing agent for loans. Type denial letters and log and maintain file on denials according to regulations.
  • Complete and prepare all required SBA loan documents in accordance with SBA policies and procedures.
  • File lien perfection documents to ensure our lien is recorded timely and accurately.
  • Verify all loan files are completed and adhere to Bank and SBA policies, including injection documentation and tracking and loan disbursement documentation and tracking
  • Scan loan files to core system in accordance with Bank procedures
  • When required submit loan information and documentation to the SBA Loan Guaranty Processing Center for approval
  • Disburse loan proceeds in accordance with Bank and SBA procedures
  • Submit department invoices for payment through Flexi Program
  • Track and follow up on maintenance of files including rate and payment changes, insurance, UCC renewals, financial statements and tax returns, corporate verification of status, inspections, etc. Receive and distribute rate and payment change notices as appropriate. Monitor loans serviced through loan servicing to ensure that required changes are made and are accurate; work as liaison with other departments.
  • Maintain a tickler system to follow-up on all pending items. Assist Lender with tracking of any covenants that may be required by the loan agreement; verify accuracy of statements as they are received.
  • When requested assist with requesting annual tax returns and financial statements from borrowers.
  • Monitor loans serviced to ensure that required changes are made and are accurate.
  • Assist customers and branch personnel with questions or problems concerning SBA loans.
  • Complete Branch Checking Account certifications and GL certifications as required
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
  • Related duties as assigned.

About You

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 year clerical experience in a banking environment
  • Fundamental understanding of banking, accounting, legal or related experience
  • Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to maintain quality customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other basic office equipment

PREFERRED SKILL, ABILITY, EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior banking experience
  • Fundamental understanding of banking, accounting, legal or related experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Interpersonal skills to meet and deal effectively with the public in a courteous manner responding to a variety of situations with professional discretion.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to maintain quality customer service in all aspects of the position.
  • Good math and organizational skills to ensure the maintenance of complete, accurate loan documentation and follow-up.
  • Skill to efficiently operate a calculator and computer as well as other basic office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
