Job Description Summary |
The
Associate VP of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (AVPIRE) is an institutional leader who initiates, designs, gathers, and analyzes complex statistical educational data, employing a variety of statistical and analytical methodologies and techniques. The
AVPIRE disseminates forecast and trend information in various formats to campus constituencies and external reporting agencies to support management, planning, assessment, and policy development. Information relating to academic programs, curriculum, students, and faculty is collected, analyzed, and reported. The
AVPIRE oversees the content and integrity of the institution's data warehouse and is responsible for all strategic and analytic reporting. |
Essential Functions |
- Work directly with senior administration to identify and accomplish a research program aligned with the institution's priorities.
- In deep collaboration with IT, create and maintain enduring systems for data collection and analysis based on the data needs of institutional stakeholders.
- Guide and support committees that require analytic and strategic reporting and data-informed decision-making, including but not limited to the Academic Assessment Committee and the Core Curriculum Committee .
- Lead and collaborate with senior staff and Deans on assessment methodologies and in assessing reporting needs on a continual basis related, but not limited to: academic program accreditation, workload initiatives, enrollment management reporting, and retention and student success efforts.
- Provide analytic support and expertise in research design and methods, surveys, data processing, and data presentation for academic and administrative departments.
- Lead reporting needs of the entire department, prioritizing data requests along with cyclical project requests and external reporting needs.
- Lead the staff in Institutional Research and support them with their projects.
- Oversee and assure completion of all federal and state reporting requirements (i.e., IPEDS, NCAA).
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for institutional decision-making and reporting.
- Develop and implement strategies for assessment, including effective data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
- Support the goals and priorities of the Provost's Office in collaboration with various campus stakeholders to support institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement initiatives, including but not limited to Middle States Accreditation and analysis of Nazareth's academic program portfolio.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years working in higher education.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in institutional research, quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and strategic reporting.
- Proficiency in statistical and analytical methodologies and techniques and use of computer software pertinent to institutional research and effectiveness.
- Facility with database, spreadsheet, and work-processing computer programs to translate quantitative data into usable information for planning, assessment, and other purposes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in an understandable format.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

- Ph.D. in relevant field
- Minimum two years experience in SQL programming
