JOB TITLE:

Visitor Services Associate

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide coverage and support to the UW Art Museum Visitor Services, which is the first point of contact for guests and visitors entering the Centennial Complex. Associates provide information to the public about the Art Museum; answer general inquiries and direct visitors or calls to the appropriate staff and faculty. Visitor Service Associates also ensure that artwork is not touched or damaged in the lobby or galleries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Visitor Services Associates serve as the primary person to greet and assist museum visitors. This includes welcoming them as they arrive, assisting them with parking sign-in requirements, answering basic questions, providing printed materials to patrons, promoting the Art Museum, exhibitions, programs, and educational classes. Track and record museum attendance. Responsible for the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Visitor Services Center. Answer incoming calls to the Art Museum, transfer calls as needed, or take messages as necessary. Responsible for museum store sales, cash handling, and daily cash sheets. Responsible for managing general email account inquiries. Answer general questions about the museum and exhibitions. Observe visitors in the galleries to ensure the safety of the artwork and answer questions as needed. Walk around the galleries when multiple groups are present. Ensure artwork is not touched or damaged in the lobby or galleries. Other duties as assigned.

Must be organized

Must have great attention to detail

Ability to multi-task

Must possess great phone etiquette

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate or GED

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of customer service and/or frontline office experience

Experience with Microsoft office; excel, outlook

Data entry experience

Previous sales or retail experience preferred

Previous experience with cash handling
