Lead Data Scientist, Decision Resources LLC d/b/a Clarivate Analytics (US) LLC, Philadelphia, PA

Duties: Lead the research and exploration of different machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) algorithms and techniques to solve complex problems and enhance user experience. Oversee the collection and analysis of data from various sources to develop models, algorithms, and statistical analyses, ensuring best practices are followed and mentoring team members in data-driven decision-making. Direct the design and execution of experiments to validate and compare the effectiveness of different ML and NLP models, delegating tasks to team members and reviewing their contributions for quality assurance. Take ownership of the development and deployment of ML and NLP models and algorithms into production environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, translating them into technical solutions, while serving as a key liaison and leading discussions on technical feasibility and strategy. Monitor and lead the performance optimization of ML and NLP models in production environments, troubleshooting issues and ensuring that team members are involved in continuous learning and problem-solving. Stay at the forefront of the latest developments and trends in ML, NLP, and related technologies, leading the adoption of new approaches and mentoring the team on how to integrate these advancements into ongoing projects. Mentor junior team members and lead small project teams, taking full responsibility for the delivery of high-quality technical solutions and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Requirements: Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, Statistics, or related quantitative field with a focus in computational linguistics plus a minimum of three years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Material Management Analyst, or related role. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in each of the following areas: working on machine learning projects; programming in python, R, java, and Scala; and evaluating model quality on large sets of data. Must have experience in AWS cloud computing. Must have experience with advance corpus linguistics techniques. Must have experience working with the automatic morphological analysis of diverse languages, part of speech tagging, word segmentation, and character-level neural network models. Must have experience working with the automatic translation between languages, with a focus on statistical and neural machine translation approaches. Must have experience applying Machine Translation (MT) architectures to analogous monolingual tasks. Must have experience performing MT evaluation. Must have experience performing sentiment analysis including identification and analysis of opinion. Must have experience working with text polarity and emotion classification, fine-grained (e.g. aspectual) opinion mining, and argumentation mining in social networks. Must have experience on advanced computational semantics including information extraction, semantic role labelling, semantic parsing, discourse parsing, question answering, summarization, and natural language inference. Must have experience on building automatic language tools when data is scarce and working with rule-based and hybrid systems. Must have experience performing identification of syntactic structure in natural language. Must have experience parsing algorithms for popular grammar formalisms, application of statistical information to parsing, parser evaluation, and extraction of parse features. Telecommuting is permitted within standard commuting distance from the employer's Philadelphia, PA office for a required two-day per week in-person attendance.
