The Director of Business Development is responsible for directing the development and continuous refinement of the facility's business development plan. This position designs, develops, implements and directs the business development strategic goals, philosophy, policies and procedure, and systems for the department and the facility. Also, the position directly supervises a minimum of three staff members and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintains a schedule of primary accounts including business, industry, EAPs, managed care clients, physicians, licensed practitioners and allied health professionals
  • Develops and implements monthly, seasonal and annual strategies and evaluates results
  • Consults with all levels of internal, external facility functional staff on the establishment of goals and product development
  • Maintains business development referral admission records and statistics including reports and manuals
  • Targets and creates new strategies for increasing business; maintains and develops key accounts and responds to business development opportunities
  • Schedules and/or conducts workshops and seminars for the community; directs and coordinates all media and public relations functions
  • Acts as liaison with managed care companies; coordinates the completion of all applications and information requested by designated managed care companies; oversees the administration and maintenance of managed care contracts for the designated companies.
  • Coaches department staff on effective business development styles and techniques
  • Prepares annual reports and budgeting reports

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health area, marketing, business administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in health care business development resulting in measurable results
  • Direct experience developing managed care agreements (especially with capitation and at-risk areas)
  • Detailed knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles
  • Must have valid drivers' license
