This engineering director will lead initiatives to build and expand core AI capabilities, including developing and maintaining foundational AI infrastructure and tooling for Trailhead and Trailblazer Community teams. They will also accelerate new innovation by delivering reusable services and integrating with Data Cloud. A key part of the role involves leveraging Trailhead's data to drive personalization and analytics for these products. This leader will provide expert AI guidance and foster collaboration within the Trailhead and Trailblazer Community teams. The overall goal is to drive product innovation and scale AI-driven experiences on Trailhead and the Trailblazer Community.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of talented engineers

  • Recruit, nurture and retain best-in-class talent

  • Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members

  • Participate in cross-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams

  • Influence and compellingly communicate the vision to a wide variety of key stakeholders

  • Build strong partnerships across disciplines, such as Design, Product, and Marketing

  • Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many cross functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers

  • Ensure teams have clear priorities and adequate resources

  • Work effectively as part of a geographically distributed team

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Lightning Components, Visualforce, Javascript, and HTML.

  • Experience developing and maintaining foundational AI infrastructure and tooling for their teams.

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, Apex, REST/SOAP API.

  • Experience with leading design and architect discussions.

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and participate in architecture designs.

  • Experience with short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and experience working on a product that's been released for public consumption.

  • Working experience in software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • Ability to lead, motivate and grow teams of developers in a challenging, dynamic, and global environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be nimble, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal specifications.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience or familiarity with Lightning Web Components.

  • Experience in building API's and data integration platforms.

  • Experience in agile development methodologies such as scrum.

  • Prior development or management experience with cloud computing platforms.
