The Benefits Manager is responsible for delivery of benefits and administration of the organization's health and welfare benefits programs; ensuring that programs adhere to current regulations and support the organization's strategic objectives. Evaluating current programs to ensure compliance with government regulations, and integration planning for acquisitions. This role also provides analytical and plan expertise for the health, welfare, and retirement programs as well as ensures plans and programs are in alignment with Concentra's business objectives and overall Orange Book philosophy.



Responsibilities

    Manage vendor administration of health and welfare plans to ensure accurate enrollment, reporting, billing and to minimize user issues.
  • Support prep and implementation of Open Enrollment activities.
  • Ensure processes of colleague enrollment with carriers and process life status changes is complete and accurate.
  • Oversee and handle Enrollment and Eligibility Administrative Appeals (1st and 2nd level)
  • Creates and executes written project plans that identify scope, deliverables, tasks, accountabilities, and due dates required to ensure successful project completion.
  • Partner with communications to drive colleague engagement and usage of offered benefits.
  • Assist with new-hire orientation materials and delivery needs.
  • Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Coordinate and deliver outstanding customer service for escalated benefit issues.
  • Oversee retirement benefits including all financial reconciliation.
  • Partner with finance regarding IBNR reporting, PAPC Claims settlement and Year End Reporting.
  • Oversee preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Accountable for staying abreast of and compliant with all government regulations.
  • Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to Director.
  • Support acquisition integrations by reviewing acquired company's benefits programs, identify a strategy that provides the most benefit to the company and colleagues, and make recommendations.
  • Understand the HR/Payroll system and work with internal departments to drive efficiencies.
  • Supporting the mission and direction of Concentra.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned, related to the position/department.


Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree ; Major: Human Resources or a related field of study
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience
  • In lieu of higher education, the ratio is 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice-versa.
  • Customarily has at least five (5) years of benefits experience with a working knowledge of the benefits strategy, management, benefits compliance and advanced knowledge of benefits administration.

Job Related Skills

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of Oracle HRMS, or a related software package, is highly desirable, but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle issues involving sensitivity, confidentiality, and legal exposure.
  • Must possess a high-level of technical and problem-solving skills to complement a strong leadership and management skill set.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills.
