Ball State University's Unified Communications team is looking for a dynamic, goal-oriented member to provide data and voice connectivity to the University's campus. This position will involve monitoring, maintaining and evolving the campus data and voice network to meet the ever-growing needs of the campus community. This is a full-time, on-campus opportunity.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

The Technology Analyst position is responsible for maintaining network reliability to ensure service for campus building and network customers. This includes monitoring and managing networking equipment, VoIP, video-conferencing, and wireless components. This includes, but is not limited to routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, and monitoring software. Position also provides ongoing monitoring, analysis, configuration, and support of the unified communication infrastructure for moves, adds, and changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Process moves, adds, and changes for day-to-day operations of the data and voice network.

2. Work within a trouble ticket environment and solve issues for customers in a timely fashion.

3. Provide continuing analysis, design, and integration of TCP/IP technologies such as, but not limited to: H.264, G.722, SIP, 802.3, 802.11, and 802.1x.

4. Maintain network infrastructure, including layer 2 and layer 3 devices, wireless, VoIP, legacy telephone and video conferencing.

5. Have knowledge in LAN/WAN protocols, such as Ethernet, IP, IPv6, STP, EIGRP, and 802.1q. Have understanding of Cisco IOS and the ability to use IOS commands.

6. Install and support infrastructure to ensure continued and reliable availability of the unified communications network.

7. Ability to troubleshoot network issues, work with team members, external staff and equipment vendors to resolve problems.

8. Provide video-conferencing and web-conferencing support for Faculty and Staff.

9. Provide continuing analysis, design and integration of technologies which rely on the communications infrastructure.

10. Coordinate special projects as requested.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; OR Associate's Degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to 2 years.; OR High School diploma plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to 4 years.

In addition to meeting the minimum education requirements, two years of technical experience in desktop support, server administration, or network administration.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to write proposals, and act as a vendor liaison; ability to make presentations to professional peers, and work closely with IT management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or closely related IT field.

More than two years of experience in data networking, VoIP, or video-conferencing communications; experience with computer facilities in a large organization or university setting. Positive consideration will be given to relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CWNA) and/or specialized training.
