ROLE SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Director, Revenue Accounting to join our organization. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for leading our revenue accounting team and playing a strategic / leadership role supporting the Company's growth and expansion into new products and markets.
The revenue team is responsible for revenue and accounts receivable operations, month end closes, technical accounting analyses for revenue contracts, and maintaining related internal controls. This role is highly visible across the organization, working with leadership in Commerical, Customer Service, and Legal to provide strategic guidance on sales contract structure, revenue optimization, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
This is also a unique opportunity to be the accounting lead on the launch of our new diagnostics revenue stream, including the design and implementation of the end-to-end customer and operational processes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:



  • Manage the month-end revenue close process. Ensure the team of four revenue and receivable accountants deliver accurate and timely information for internal and external reporting
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on technical revenue accounting matters, providing guidance to finance leadership, legal, and commercial teams, ensuring best practices, and educating stakeholders
  • Review all customer contracts, royalty, payer, and reimbursement agreements, and prepare technical revenue accounting memos / conclusions in accordance with ASC 606
  • Review the estimates and judgments used in establishing the period end 'gross to net' revenue accounting, including contractual allowances / adjustments, discounts, third party claims, government reimbursement, rebates, incentives, chargebacks, etc.
  • Collaborate with the SOX Transformation team to develop, review, and maintain comprehensive revenue accounting / order to cash internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Establish accounts receivable protocols that ensure timely and accurate invoicing to customers and collections reporting, partnering with commercial and customer service teams
  • Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and professional growth opportunities that fosters a culture of continuous improvement
  • Maintain a cross-functional relationship with the outsourced billing partner to ensure accuracy and efficiency of claims handled via third party
  • Review health care claims processing data for accurate and compliant revenue recognition
  • Proactively research changes in accounting standards and current trends in revenue recognition to ensure accounting compliance and appropriate disclosures
  • Support revenue related disclosures and the preparation/review of revenue footnote schedules associated with SEC filings
  • Lead the ERP implementation for the revenue / order to cash cycle
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives including automation and data analytics to create efficiencies and improved accuracy in the quote to cash and revenue processes
  • Oversee the team's preparation of all external audit requests throughout the quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Manage ad hoc projects, as needed



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance with 12+ years of experience or a Master's Degree in accounting or finance with 10+ years of experience
  • 8+ years of experience in revenue accounting under ASC 606, US GAAP, and SOX for publicly traded companies
  • 6+ years of managerial experience leading a team of revenue accountants
  • CPA license



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • 6+ years of progressive experience in an audit / assurance role with SEC clients at a 'Big 4' public accounting firm
  • Candidates with life sciences industry background
  • Exceptional technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with research and preparation of accounting position papers for complex revenue transactions
  • Experience collaborating with sales and legal teams, including cross-functional initiatives that include direct and indirect reports
  • 4+ years of experience in implementing or leading the revenue accounting cycle for a health care provider, including third party reimbursement and complex 'gross to net' analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a global quote to cash process, navigating the complexities of doing business domestically and internationally, and in a health care setting, and helping teams through change management
  • Thorough understanding of SEC reporting and ASC 606 disclosure requirements for 10-Q's and 10-K's
  • Focus on innovation with experience standing up modern revenue / billing financial systems, ERP enhancements, and automation (robotic process automation, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion and as the accounting lead on the order to cash cycle for an ERP implementation

    • We describe flexible hybrid as approximately 2 days each week in our Billerica, MA office. Your in-office schedule can change each week so that you can focus on your personal commitments
