Job Description

Assists in the production of quality parts by ensuring production machines are well-maintained.



Starting Wage: $25.00



We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour and 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour



The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At NTA, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Performs tasks such as fabrication and assembly of new or modified mechanical components to improve production processes
  • Work from patterns and drawings, using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or full assembly components.
  • Input into machine improvements, assistance to engineers in poka yoke (mistake-proofing) implementation, initial diagram development, and design modification
  • Perform operations relating to testing, inspecting, and modifying equipment in the manufacturing department to improve manufacturing capabilities.Make recommendations for changes in product, process, or method.
  • Comply with IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 requirements, safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas - perform 5S cleaning responsibilities

Requirements

Education and/or Experience



  • A two year technical degree or equivalent training attained through related work experience.
  • At least two years of previous experience working as a Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrates oral and written communication skills with trades persons, supervisors, operator and trainers. Able to pass written tests for training.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • A strong focus on safety.
  • Previous experience working with induction heat treat and CNC equipment OR steel forging equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or the Toyota Production System a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic electric circuitry.
  • Basic fabricating skills (miter cuts, tube bending, etc.)


Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Bump caps, steel toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas. Hearing protection is required in specific areas.



Physical Demands



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazards common to industrial settings; chemicals, vibration, and loud noises.
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves and bump caps for this position must be worn on the production floor. Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
  • Jobs on the production floor require a minimum 40-hour workweek. Overtime may be required.
  • The pace of work is steady and fast.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires sufficient vision to see details at close range, so the person can pass an inspection test of finished parts and components.
