This is a 9-month, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid contract role located in Culver City, CA. Summary
The Senior Technical Designer leads the technical development of garments from concept through production, ensuring premium standards for fit, construction, and quality. This role requires hands-on expertise, clear vendor communication, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver best-in-class apparel products. Our Ideal Candidate
8+ years of experience in technical design, preferably in high-end or performance apparel
Passion for apparel development with a strong foundation in garment fit, construction, and grading
Proficient in PLM platforms and PSD systems (e.g., Optitex or Gerber), with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Familiar with 3D design tools such as Browzwear or CLO
Skilled in collaborating with design, product development, production, and vendor teams
Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and global vendor schedules
Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail
Able to lift up to 25 pounds for sample handling and support fit preparation
Willing to travel internationally for vendor visits and production support
Job Description
In this role, you will manage the technical design process from initial concept through final production. You'll partner with design, product development, and production teams to align on brand vision and ensure garments meet required standards of fit and quality. This includes creating and maintaining accurate tech packs, leading fit sessions, issuing graded specs, and providing timely feedback to vendors. You will also oversee construction documentation, track development milestones, and conduct market research to support continuous product improvement and team success. Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field (Associate's degree considered)
Strong background in garment construction, patternmaking, and grading for knits and wovens
Familiarity with high-end or performance apparel a plus
