Job Summary
As a Materials and Process Engineer, you will help enhance the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of aerospace ducting systems in the design, testing and manufacturing environment. This role involves close collaboration with the metallurgical laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, programs and quality teams to ensure all materials and processes meet their requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts metallurgical developments to investigate properties and treatment of metals as applicable to Company products, including investigation of various metal joining methods relevant to economical application. Makes appropriate recommendations to management.
- Acts as a consultant to engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance on all matters pertaining to materials and processes. Cooperates on planning, development and resolution of metallurgical problems. Reviews and approves engineering drawings for materials and processes.
- Lead metallurgical failure analysis for material and process failures across production, qualification testing, and field `service operations.
- Participate in design reviews, drawing validations, manufacturing planning approvals, and material callouts for new product development.
- Lead or support material testing programs including tensile, fatigue, corrosion, and thermal analysis.
- Hold MRB authority for Nonconforming Material Reports, ensuring timely and compliant disposition of material-related issues.
- Reviews customer specifications to determine criteria for working and testing of metals, alloys and components.
- Coordinates the activities of a metallurgical laboratory to conduct a variety of microscopic and/or specialized examinations and physical tests of designated metals, alloys or components to determine their characteristics, to spot defects and to assure compliance with established standards.
- Assists metallurgical technicians conducting tests, assisting them in setup and equipment operation relevant to preparing specimens for study.
- Directs performance of specialized material tests to assist in proving welding and joining techniques or metal treatment processes. Conducts metallurgical failure analysis investigations. Reviews and interprets test results, complies findings and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Recommends outside purchase of metallurgical laboratory test equipment, defining equipment specifications and functions.
- Confers with vendors, as necessary on outside foregoing and/or treatment of metals, furnishing them with specifications and interpretations and resolving problems as they arise.
- Author, review, and update material or process specifications, documentation, and technical reports.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in the area of Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a metallurgical or materials testing laboratory environment.
- Familiarity/experience with AS9100 and NADCAP regulations/compliance, ASTM & ASM as well as other industry standards.
