What you'll do The Database Software Engineer II will design, develop, test, and maintain the Infinite Campus database, ensuring that data and schema management strategies are efficient, scalable, and secure. They will create and improve database tooling, optimize performance through indexing and configuration, and debug or test code as needed. Additionally, they will mentor other engineers on database best practices, evaluate requirements and designs, and document systems in support of ongoing development. The employee will also use agile practices to manage tasks, work independently on complex problems, and ensure database solutions meet business and performance requirements. Who you are The right candidate for this position is someone with a strong background in software and database engineering who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. They should be a self-starter who can work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams. Someone who enjoys problem-solving, pays close attention to detail, and demonstrates commitment to quality and security would excel. A good fit would also be an individual comfortable mentoring peers and adapting to evolving technologies while balancing multiple priorities. Your skill-set To succeed, the employee will need solid technical skills in database design and performance optimization, including experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL/T-SQL, and database performance analysis tools such as Solarwinds Database Performance Analyzer or Apex SQL. They should have strong programming experience with technologies like Java, Groovy, and SQL, along with the ability to tune execution plans and drive product performance improvements. Equally important are strong analytical and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly. Success will also require adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to protect sensitive data while working within established security guidelines.
