Description

Summary: Treatment Plant Operator Trainee will be training underneath a licensed Treatment Plant Operator who provides support with sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monitoring control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage.
  • Reads PH levels and make appropriate pump adjustments as needed.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
  • Assists with starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Collects sewage sample and conducts laboratory tests.
  • Oversees and completes water-desludging.
  • Operates and maintains power generating equipment to provide steam and electricity for plant.
  • Cross trains in Recycling.
  • Sanitizes equipment.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):

  • General understanding of how a treatment plant works.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience with basic computer knowledge

Preferred Training and Skills:

  • PLC and/or Control classes

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills. The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills. The employee will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, and write English. The employee will frequently need to understand English.
