Senior Missile Systems Structural Engineer
Contingent upon prime contractor approval
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises has need for a Senior Missile Systems Structural Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
- In this role, you will provide technical and project engineering support to the GM NGI Project Office.
Job Description:
- Provide engineering support for missile systems and components.
- Actively participate in All-Up Round (AUR) Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities and working groups focused on NGI Missile Systems Structural Engineering activities.
- Support failure investigations and procedure validations/verifications.
- Establish and gain knowledge of specific contractor development activities and assist to maximize Government IPT team participation in key areas to include prototype testing, design reviews, risk reviews, contractor trade studies, and other contractor design and development efforts.
- Participate in engineering oversight and management of NGI contractor.
- Provide direct review of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and Objective Evidence (OE) deliverables and/or coordinate reviews of such items with agency Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Review change in designs and engineering change proposals and document.
- Provide staff utilization and planning inputs to take full advantage of the ability to provide contractor oversight and independent assessments.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Masters degree in STEM (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) with at least 12+ years related experience in Missile Systems Structural Engineering.
- Must have the ability to provide Structural Engineering evaluation and assessments including recommendations.
- Must have experience in the structural design and qualification of missiles.
- Must have experience with analysis programs such as MS Excel, Python, MATLAB.
- Must have experience with fatigue analysis, cumulative damage theory, failure analysis of mechanical components and systems.
- Must have experience leading a collaborative team to deliver rigorously planned, coordinated, and synchronized results.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in MDA processes, preferred.
- Ability to develop documents for Program Reviews and Engineering Review Boards (ERB), preferred.
- Experience with the design and analysis of bolted joints and bearing design, preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance, and the ability to maintain clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
